Repertorio Español’s 2009 Party

Repertorio Español, the nation’s pre-eminent Spanish-language theater celebrated its annual gala on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009.

The evening began at Repertorio’s theater with a performance of Argentinean playwright Ricardo Talesnik’s “Las quiero a las dos” (I Love Them Both), performed in Spanish with live simultaneous English translation with an all-Venezuelan cast that included renowned actors Luis Fernández, Mimí Lazo and María Antonieta Duque. After the performance the guests enjoyed dinner and dancing at iTrulli Restaurant on East 27th Street.

The event raised $125,000 to benefit ¡Dignidad!, the Company’s Education Program which serves over 20,000 students every year through low-cost schoolday matinee performances, in-school workshops, professional development for teachers and mentorship programs for students. Repertorio Español is dedicated to presenting the best theater from Latin America, Spain and the Caribbean. The Company operates in a true rotating repertory format on which 15 different plays are presented every season in over 350 performances.
